NaBloPoMo: Thirty Acts of Love: Day 2. Package from a Friend

Day 2. Package from a Friend

There are some moments in life, including illness and injury, when you find yourself surrounded by loving gestures. When Connor broke his arm, he received a balloon bouquet and cards from his class, cards from friends (including some with poems!), emails from friends (possibly including a video of diving giraffes, thank you Eamon - although I could be confusing when that particular email was sent), gifts from teachers, and care packages from family. Every single one of them provided a bright spot to a boy and his mom who were not feeling like their best selves. Somehow, everything was going to be fine.

Then there's the package that shows up from a friend you haven't seen for years, just because she saw your post on Facebook, and she remembered when her daughter broke her arm.

And that package from the friend who has never even met your son? That is the one that will bring you to your knees. That's the one that provides absolute proof to you, amid a series of dark days, that the world is good, and loving, and kind.

Thank you, universe. You've gifted me with the absolute best set of friends.
